It’s eleven p.m.,
Tomorrow’s Maths test is a mess.
It winds around my head.
I should let it go perhaps.
I leave my home quietly,
Without telling anybody,
‘cause I don’t want my mum to worry,
As well as my daddy.
I walk along the Shing Mun River,
See a dog hide at the corner.
It barks at me icily,
But that is not the biggest fear.
The streets are full of nostalgia.
I move through senseless routine and insensitive chatter.
The moon is high up there.
I look at it with rueful tears.
There are thousands of questions in my mind.
Why we are alive?
Why we have to cry?
Why we can’t smile?
I get so many “Why”,
But none of them will get a reply.
‘cause white teeth shines,
Mouths are full of lies.
